Condition Monitoring of the Lubrication System of Military Land Vehicles

GlobVision designed and developed models and algorithms for on-board health monitoring and oil quality estimation of the engine lubrication system of military land vehicles (LVs), thus enabling condition-based maintenance (CBM) (versus conventional time-based maintenance) of the lubrication system of the LVs during in-field operations. The developed model-based algorithms can run in real-time (on LV’s on-board computer) and estimate the engine oil quality parameters (e.g. oil dynamic viscosity) using data from on-board sensors such as oil flow meters, engine speed (rpm) and temperature.

This work resulted in significant improvements to the reliability and reduction in the risk of operating military land vehicles in the field, as well as a significant reduction in their maintenance costs.
