Inertial Measurement Unit-Fault Diagnosis (IMU-FD)

Fault-tolerant Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) architectures are being increasingly considered for providing desirable operational reliability measures of modern long-life satellites. Under two contracts for the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), GlobVision has designed and developed a highly reliable and robust model-based fault detection and isolation (FDI) solution for gyroscopes that are extensively used in IMU to make measurements of the inertial state of space vehicles. GlobVision’s proprietary solution has been fully tested under a very wide dynamic operational range of space vehicles’ attitude maneuvers.
