GlobVision developed new innovative models for the estimation of snow depth. Using GIS-based methods and data mining techniques, GlobVision was able to compensate for missing values and provide a more detailed picture of the snow depth measurements. Such information is critical in many hydrological applications as well as in climate modelling. The data obtained could also eventually help manage avalanche-prone regions, or predict springtime flooding conditions so as to increase safety, and prevent loss of life and property.
