GlobVision designed and developed algorithms capable of automatically validating and evaluating the quality of a large data set of operational engine variables recorded during the flight of a fleet of aircraft. The validated engine variables included inter turbine temperature, fuel flow, engine gas generator speed, propeller speed and torque. The environmental variables used in the validation process by the algorithms included indicated air speed, outside air temperature and aircraft altitude.
This work demonstrated that aircraft engine data validation & qualification (DV&Q) for large fleets of aircraft can indeed be automated and thus significant improvements can be achieved in the efficiency and reliability of the DV&Q process. This results in substantial cost-savings, risk reduction and the minimization of unnecessary engine overhauls.
