FLOOD FORECASTING

Potentially catastrophic flooding situations are already being monitored via remote sensing techniques and careful weather watch. What is often missing is a complete hydrological picture of the situation, including in situ sensor data and advanced analysis of critical parameters such as soil moisture, a key predictor of terrain behaviour. GlobVision has developed solutions that are designed specifically to address such problems. Through the use of GlobVision solutions it is now possible to integrate a wider range of data and obtain more nuanced predictive information and predict when and where conditions will lead to flooding even for areas devoid of ground station sensors.

For a brief overview of GlobVision’s capabilities in this field, see the following summaries of recent projects: Hydrological/Meteorological Sensor Validation, Snow Depth Measurement, Snow-Water Equivalency, and Soil Moisture Estimation via Remote Sensing.
