SOIL MOISTURE AND ROUGHNESS
ESTIMATION VIA REMOTE SENSING

Under Earth Observation Application Development Program (EOADP) of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), GlobVision researched and developed methodologies and specific architectures for the estimation of soil moisture from RADARSAT-1 and/or ENVISAT data.

GlobVision under a second EOADP agreement is developing an operational version of the solution that can be licensed as a standalone application or used on a contractual basis globally. This product/service will, through the application of proprietary AI techniques, perform estimates of soil moisture and roughness measurements using remote sensing images. The soil moisture measurements will extend to the root zone level.

Soil moisture is a critical parameter in a number of hydrological and agricultural applications (i.e. watershed management, drought monitoring and prediction, crop yield optimization) as well as in climate modelling.
