GlobVision contribution to the space sector has been primarily in two areas: Earth observation application developments suited for estimation of surface parameters using in situ and remote sensing datasets, and satellite operations management.
For EO applications development the techniques used are ideally suited to perform inversions able to extract complex information from remotely sensed data. In particular when exact models do not exist, or are of limited applicability, the developed techniques proved faster to adapt and yielded on average more precise answers.
Satellites are complex systems, and typically well instrumented for monitoring and control purposes. The ever-increasing demands with respect to mission critical functions and system availability and the spiralling operating costs have resulted in an urgent and critical need to optimize their operational life cycle by adding intelligence to the tasks of assessing and predicting their behaviour. Those are the very questions GlobVision have developed solutions for and with its Space sector partners.
For a brief overview of work performed by GlobVision for in the area of remote sensing, see the following summaries of recent projects: Near Surface Air Temperature, Snow Depth Measurement, Snow-Water Equivalency, and Soil Moisture Estimation via Remote Sensing.
For work done in the area of satellite operation, see the following summaries: Fault Diagnosis of Satellite Subsystem, Satellite Constellation Management.
